Travel Journal - Europe Christmas Markets Tour 2022
Our SOLD OUT Europe Christmas Markets Tour in December 2022 was certainly one to remember so we wanted to share some of our messages home and memories of this tour for possible future guests too.
This fully escorted 20-day group tour includes all the luxuries from some of the best accommodation Europe has to offer, to fine dining and a small ship luxury river cruise. We ate, shopped, took in the glorious sights of this festive season in winter and had a fabulous time together – the photos really speak for themselves!
Our Travel Journal
Departing 24 November 2022 and returning 14 December 2022, our 20-day adventure took in Singapore, London, Switzerland, Germany and France.
1st Stop - 2 nights in Singapore
Melissa & Sandra have a wonderful group on our Europe Christmas Markets Tour this year! Singapore is such a great destination and stopover point where everyone thoroughly enjoyed the sights, sounds and culture of this cosmopolitan city. This was our first real taste of Christmas at an international level.
2nd Stop - 5 nights in London
Arriving into London was like coming home for many on our group tour. It was an action-packed 5 days experiencing everything that London has to offer at this magical time of year – it really is a Winter Wonderland!
Our group took in all the best Christmas experiences that London has to offer, including:
- The festive lights at Kew Gardens are stunning.
- All the department store Christmas windows - Harrods “Christian Dior“ lights were seen from miles away and are truly spectacular.
- High Tea in The Rosbery at the very impressive Mandarin Oriental Hotel was an appropriate grand finale, followed by the Christmas Panto “Elf”.
Melissa wrote to us saying, "Our time in London flew by and we have all left with wonderful memories! Also lighter pockets and some special treasures to bring home."
3rd Stop - 2 Nights in Zurich
After a short flight from London, our group checked into their hotel in Zurich before heading out to explore the city by night. Melissa & Sandra took everyone to the main Christmas market which was full of locals eating and drinking as is typical for this time of the year. It is a popular place for family and friends to gather to taste all the festive and local treats. They then strolled around Lake Zurich, and found a quaint little restaurant for dinner.
The next day our group took a walking tour of the old town and the new. Zurich is stunning place to explore with lots of narrow cobbled streets weaving through the city. Their tour included a ride up the Felsenegg cable car where everyone was able to take in the most wonderful views over the countryside and across the city lakes and rivers.
4th Stop - 10 Night River Cruise
The Avalon Imagery 11 is now home for the next stage our Europe Christmas Markets tour. After a hectic week in London & Zurich, everyone was excited to sit back and relax on board this stunning river ship.
Cruising the Main River, our group visited many towns in the Black Forest region (Day 2 on our cruise itinerary) including Strasbourg, Heidelburg and Rudesheim. It is easy to fall in love with all these charming towns as they are all just slightly different from each other.

More wonderful snapshots of our white Christmas voyage along the Main River... including meet & greets with Santa, more quaint villages, more Christmas shopping and a very chilly bike ride or two is what is keeping everyone "Healthy, Wealthy & Wise!"
