Kimberley Coastal Expedition
There are coastlines in this world that still feel untouched, where the only soundtrack is the rush of water against ancient sandstone and the call of seabirds overhead. Western Australia's Kimberley is one of them, and the Kimberley Coastal Expedition is a beautifully comfortable way to discover it.
A remote coastline, explored in comfort
This 10-day, nine-night small ship cruise sails from Broome to Darwin in 2027 aboard the Seabourn Pursuit, a purpose-built expedition ship carrying a maximum of 264 guests, every one of them in a veranda suite. Over ten days you will visit the Lacepede Islands, Buccaneer Archipelago, Hunter River, Mitchell Falls, Ashmore Reef and Vansittart Bay, with a relaxed day at sea before you disembark in Darwin. Most excursions are by Zodiac, which takes you into narrow channels and right up to cliffs and waterfalls that larger ships simply cannot reach.
Moments you will remember
At Talbot Bay, the bay's impressive 12-metre tides force powerful currents through the gaps of Horizontal Falls, a sight to behold from your Zodiac, subject to tidal conditions.
At Montgomery Reef, the world's largest inshore reef rises dramatically out of the ocean as the tide falls. You glide through narrow channels while water cascades away, revealing the wildlife beneath.
At King George River, the water tumbles 80 metres from lofty sandstone cliffs, and your Zodiac creeps close enough to feel its power.
Perhaps the most meaningful experience is the Arraluli Heritage Exploration. You are welcomed with a Welcome to Country and a smoking ceremony led by the Arraluli people, the traditional custodians of the land. An Expedition Team hike to a rock art site follows, where your Aboriginal guide offers an interpretation of the art.
Life aboard the Seabourn Pursuit
Back on board, the pace softens. Dining is all-inclusive and world-class, with premium spirits, champagne and fine wines complimentary, and there are relaxation and wellness spaces to unwind in after a day on the water. Your APT Cruise Director and expert Expedition Team look after every detail, so you can simply enjoy the experience.
Good to know before you go
The price includes airport transfers, port charges and park fees, but covers the cruise only, so flights are not included. This is where your YOU Travel & Cruise Consultant comes in, arranging flights, accommodation and anything else you would like to add. If you would like more time in the region, there is also a 10-day pre-trip extension taking in Broome, the Bungle Bungles, Emma Gorge and Bell Gorge.
Please note this is a high Zodiac activity cruise, and itineraries can change with the tides and weather in such a remote part of the world. Valid passports and travel insurance are mandatory.
