Gamla Stan, Stockholm, is perched right on the edge of the Old Town and is nothing short of magical. This medieval heart of the city dates back to the 13th century, and wondering its narrow cobblestone streets felt like stepping into a Nordic fairy tale.

Colourful buildings leaned over winding lanes, guiding us toward enchanting markets and the cosiest cafés - perfect spots to experience a true Swedish fika, the cherished ritual of pausing for coffee and pastries. Every corner seemed to whisper a story.

Stockholm is spread across 14 islands. You can feel the water shaping the city’s rhythm. We dove into its vibrant culture, danced our way through the ABBA Museum (where you can literally become the fifth member onstage!), and found ourselves utterly mesmerized at the extraordinary VASA Museum.

The Vasa ship, famously built to intimidate enemies in the 1600s, sank just minutes into its maiden voyage and now stands almost perfectly preserved, a time capsule from Sweden’s history. 

And of course, no journey through Sweden would be complete without indulging in the iconic Swedish meatballs (köttbullar) which, for the record, were every bit as mouth-watering as we hoped.

Stockholm was a captivating blend of old-world charm and modern Scandinavian cool, and it left us already dreaming of our next visit.
