Our Hvar (Croatia) Family Adventure
Melissa shares more of her family summer holiday in Europe...
Island Dreams and Sun-Soaked Days!
After an incredible time in Split, our next stop was the enchanting island of Hvar—just a swift, one-hour ferry ride across the Adriatic. The journey itself was effortless thanks to a high-speed ferry that had us skimming over turquoise waters in no time.
As we docked in Hvar Town, the charm hit us instantly. Waiting at the port was a representative from our hotel, ready to help us with our luggage. We stayed at the Beach Bay Hvar Hotel. This boutique eco-friendly hotel sits just above a small, peaceful beach, offering stunning views and a wonderfully laid-back atmosphere. Sun loungers dotted the shoreline, and cozy seaside restaurants were just steps away.
Island Living at Its Finest
Hvar gave us the perfect mix of relaxation and adventure. One of our highlights was a day trip to Mlini Island, where we swam in crystal-clear waters, basked in the sun, and enjoyed total tranquility.
For a taste of the island's glitzy side, we spent a luxurious day at the Hvar Beach Bay Club. Yes, it's a bit of a splurge at €60 per person, but the service is impeccable, and the vibe is pure coastal elegance—cocktails in hand, music playing, and sun loungers that practically beg you to stay all day.
The Pulse of Hvar
What I truly loved about Hvar is its energy. Each day brought something new: glamorous superyachts docking along the marina, stylish travelers sipping espresso, and groups of carefree young adventurers soaking up the summer magic. Whether you're here to party or to unwind, there's a rhythm to Hvar that draws you in.
Wander a little and you’ll find hidden gems tucked away in narrow alleyways, intimate restaurants, lively bars, and spots that feel like secrets waiting to be discovered. The cobbled streets are not just charming they're alive with history, flavor, and soul.
A Glimpse into the Past: Stari Grad
To explore Hvar’s quieter, more historic side, we took a 30 minute taxi ride to Stari Grad, one of Europe’s oldest towns. This sleepy fishing village feels worlds away from the buzz of Hvar Town. With its quaint stone streets, harbor views, and relaxed pace, it’s the perfect place for a peaceful meal or a gentle wander. If you’re looking for a quieter Hvar experience, Stari Grad is a must.
Final Thoughts
Hvar is the kind of place that effortlessly balances luxury, history, and natural beauty. Whether you’re swimming in remote coves, dining under the stars, or people-watching by the marina, there’s a unique charm that stays with you long after you leave.
Next stop: Dubrovnik! Stay tuned.
