A Family Adventure of a Lifetime!

The summer of 2025 will always hold a special place in our hearts. This year, our family decided to explore the captivating beauty of Croatia, a country where ancient towns, crystal-clear waters, and breathtaking islands await. And what better way to kick off this unforgettable adventure than by setting sail on the sparkling Adriatic Sea?

Setting Sail: The Ultimate Family Experience

We chose a sailing holiday to begin our Croatian journey, chartering our own catamaran along with a professional skipper. Thanks to some fantastic contacts in the sailing world, we were able to charter a stunning Bali Catspace 4.2. If you’re wondering whether this type of trip is ideal for families or groups, trust me—it's perfect. The catamaran offered spacious rooms, cozy lounges, and plenty of outdoor deck space for sunbathing, dining, and simply soaking in the views. It was the ideal vessel for our family and I honestly couldn’t imagine a better way to explore Croatia’s stunning coastline.

First Stop: The Calm and Beautiful Bay

We set off from Split, where every Saturday hundreds of catamarans and yachts embark on their adventures—creating quite the spectacle as they turn around new crews and passengers. But we chose to depart early in the morning, ensuring we reached our first stop well ahead of the crowd. And I’m so glad we did! We anchored in a serene bay surrounded by the clearest turquoise waters. It was the perfect beginning to our trip.

The highlight of the evening was being whisked away by a small dinghy to a restaurant nestled right into the rocks. Imagine this: a rustic, charming eatery where the scent of fresh seafood wafts through the air, and every dish is prepared with love. We feasted on the freshest fish and local Croatian delicacies—such a special and authentic experience that set the tone for the rest of the week.

A Floating Playground: Non-Stop Fun

Back on board, we were never short of things to do. Our catamaran was stocked with all kinds of water toys, ensuring that no one ever got bored. Stand-up paddleboards, kayaks, and even a sea scooter kept us busy for hours. And the best part? We spent a good portion of our days exploring the coastline, swimming in the calm, crystal-clear waters. There’s something magical about waking up each day, stepping out of your cabin, and jumping straight into the perfect sea—its clarity and vibrant blue hues took my breath away every single time.

Each morning, we gathered on the deck to enjoy breakfast with a view.  We then set sail to  explore nearby coves and beaches. Then, in the evening, we ventured into the charming island towns for dinner at local restaurants, where fresh seafood and regional flavors awaited us at every turn.

Island Hopping: Lastovo, Korčula, and Vis

Our journey took us to three incredible islands—Lastovo, Korčula, and Vis—each unique and captivating in its own way.

• Lastovo: A tranquil island, far from the typical tourist crowds, known for its untouched nature and charming little villages.
• Korčula: Often called the "Emerald Isle," its cobbled streets wind into a maze of bustling bars, restaurants, and hidden gems. It was like walking through a storybook.
• Vis: The perfect blend of history, local charm, and jaw-dropping views. From the fortress on top of the hill to the crystal-clear waters below, Vis was a place we couldn’t get enough of.

Each island had its own character, and exploring them felt like peeling back layers of Croatian history and culture.

As we wrap up the first part of this incredible journey, we’re heading to Hvar, an island known for its vibrant nightlife, historical sites, and stunning beaches. We’ll be spending five days there—more than enough time to explore everything this island has to offer. And of course, there will be plenty more breathtaking sunsets, delicious meals, and unforgettable memories to come.

If you’re looking for a holiday that’s filled with adventure, relaxation, and beauty around every corner, I can't recommend a sailing trip in Croatia enough. Each day brought new excitement, and every moment felt like a special treasure. From the mesmerizing waters to the charming towns, it’s hard not to fall in love with this beautiful country.
