Overlooking the city, the ancient Alcazaba of Málaga stands proudly beside the hilltop Gibralfaro Castle, a reminder of the city’s rich Moorish history. Below, the charming old town is a maze of narrow, tiled streets, lively squares, and fantastic tapas bars, all leading to the palm-lined promenade beside the sparkling Mediterranean.

Our adventures took us to the remarkable Setenil de las Bodegas, where around 3,000 residents live beneath enormous rock overhangs, making it one of Spain’s most unique villages. Then on to breathtaking Ronda, dramatically perched above a deep gorge and connected by its famous stone bridge. Wandering its historic streets felt magical, even in the summer heat. Visiting one of Spain’s oldest bullrings offered a fascinating glimpse into the country’s centuries old bullfighting traditions.

Another highlight was the spectacular Alhambra in Granada. This magnificent fortress and palace showcases some of the world’s finest Islamic architecture, with intricate carvings, peaceful courtyards, and beautiful gardens telling centuries of history.

With temperatures climbing to around 30°C, our afternoons were best spent relaxing by the pool with cocktails before heading out in the cooler evenings for delicious tapas, refreshing sangria, and the buzzing atmosphere of Málaga
